Welcome to Picki ("the App"), a product of Picki Tech LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), a company registered in the United States. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website at picki.fun and when you use the Picki mobile application, available for Android and iOS. 2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, or that is generated through your use of the app, including:
- Account information – your display name, profile photo. Authentication is handled entirely by Google Sign-In or Firebase Authentication — Picki does not store passwords.
- Email address – when you create an account or contact us.
- Precise location (GPS coordinates) – with your permission, to surface nearby venue recommendations relevant to your planning session.
- Friends and connections – when you connect with another user via an invite code, so you can plan sessions together.
- Swipe activity and session data – your swipe history within a session (used solely to detect matches) and session parameters such as location radius, activity type, and date/time.
- Wishlist – places you choose to save for later.
- Push notification tokens – a device-specific FCM token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) used to deliver session reminders and match alerts.
- Crash and diagnostic data – if the app crashes or encounters an error, we collect device information, operating system version, and a stack trace (via Firebase Crashlytics) to help us fix bugs.
- Device information – including device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers for app functionality and analytics.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Operate the swipe-and-match functionality of the app.
- Show you relevant nearby venues based on your location and session preferences.
- Enable friend connections and shared planning sessions.
- Send push notifications for session reminders, match alerts, and other planning updates via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Improve and develop our services through Firebase Analytics.
- Diagnose and fix crashes or technical issues via Firebase Crashlytics.
- Respond to your questions and support requests.
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers – third-party vendors who assist us in operating our website and app (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics, email delivery), under confidentiality agreements.
- Business transfers – if Picki Tech LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- Legal obligations – when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Picki Tech LLC or the public.
- With your consent – for any other purpose with your explicit consent.
5. Location Data
Picki collects your precise location (GPS coordinates) with your explicit permission when you create or join a session, to surface nearby venue recommendations relevant to that session. You may withdraw location permission at any time through your device settings; if revoked, venue discovery features will not function.
Your coordinates, along with any address you enter and the search radius you select, are stored as part of the session record in our database (Cloud Firestore) for as long as that session exists in your history — including for a period after the session is completed, currently up to 12 months, to support features such as viewing past plans. All participants in a session can view that session's stored location information as part of using the app together. We do not share your location with users outside your session or with third parties beyond what is necessary to retrieve venue results via the Google Places API.
6. Data Retention
In-app user data — including your profile, session history, connections, and wishlist — is retained for as long as your account is active. Session records, including stored location data (see Section 5), are retained for up to approximately 12 months after a session is completed to support features such as viewing past plans, after which they are automatically deleted. You can delete your account at any time directly in the app, which permanently removes your profile, session history, connections, wishlist, and authentication record. You may also request deletion by contacting us at hello@picki.fun.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- The right to access the personal information we hold about you.
- The right to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- The right to request deletion of your personal data.
- The right to opt out of certain uses of your data.
- The right to data portability, where applicable.

8. Children's Privacy
Picki is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. 9. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Third-Party Services
Picki integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
- Firebase Authentication – manages account creation and sign-in via email/password or Google Sign-In. Picki does not have access to your password.
- Cloud Firestore – Google's cloud database used to store your account profile, friend connections, planning sessions, swipe activity, and wishlist items.
- Firebase Cloud Storage – stores your profile photo if you choose to upload one.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) – delivers push notifications to your device, including match alerts and session updates. Requires a device token stored in your account record.
- Firebase Crashlytics – automatically collects crash reports including device information and stack traces when the app encounters an error. Used solely for debugging and improving app stability.
- Firebase Analytics – collects pseudonymous app-usage and device information, including an app-instance identifier, device and operating-system information, automatically collected events, and events concerning your interactions with Picki (such as swipes, session creation, matches, wishlist additions, and session departures). Picki does not send your name or email address to Firebase Analytics as event parameters.
- Firebase App Check – verifies that traffic to our backend comes from the legitimate Picki app, protecting against abuse.
- Google Places API – receives your precise GPS coordinates to return a list of nearby venues. Those coordinates, along with your selected address and radius, are also stored by Picki as part of your session record — see Section 5 for details.
- Google Maps and Google Calendar – opened when you choose to get directions to or add a matched plan to your calendar. On iOS, Apple Maps and Apple Calendar are available as alternatives.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of our website or app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
